If you are on this page because you are a new owner,
* Check your finances. Don't make trades or release players without
understanding the financial implications. If your team finances look
discouraging, talk things over with me.
* When you first begin, I suggest immediately doing an export by ftp, and then
emailing me to be sure I received it... A couple new owners spent long periods
of time adjusting their roster, and found out later there was some problem with
the ftp function, thereby losing all their work -- not a fun way to start a new
league.
* Be sure to register on the forums. That is the main method of
communicating information in this league. You will need to email me your
forum name so I can activate your account. It is best to use your team logo
as your avatar; you can get the logos here: http://www.bemont.net/teamlogos.zip
* All times posted are Eastern time -- Eastern
Standard during the winter, Eastern Daylight Savings during the summer.
* I try to keep the calendar page up-to-date, but in general we sim early in the morning Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and
Sundays during the season and almost every day in the off season. I try to send
an email to all members after each sim as a reminder,
and the game generally sends an email notification after each sim.
* It is really important to read the sim report on
the forum after each sim. That is the main place for
providing essential information about upcoming events.
* It is a good idea to read through the DDB rules page completely. But the main
things to know as you get started:
1) We have a system for ammy draft sandwich picks as
compensation for the best players lost to free agency. This is figured outside
the game engine. In this league, you do not lose draft picks if you sign top
free agents, although the game engine may send you false messages to that
effect.
2) Every city has a built in advantage. Be sure you know yours: Bottom of this
page http://www.bemont.net/teamsofddba.htm
3) Every team posts an organizational goal, which has
a subtle effect on player development. This is done every season just prior to
spring training.
For the historically minded,
here is the OOTP6.5
file as of 4/1/69.
